Bio for Richard Jarrell

 

  • Born & raised in Beckley, WV – Son of Richard Talmadge & Ruby Mankin Jarrell
  • Graduated from Woodrow Wilson High School in 1980
  • Attended Beckley College – two years
  • 1984 Graduate of Concord College in Athens, WV – Business Administration degree with a concentration in Marketing
  • Twenty year career in Menswear retailing – Started with E.M. Payne Co. at age 15, then went to Georges Fashions of Beckley and Bluefield.  After college graduation, worked for S&K Menswear as a District Manager and Director of Store Operations
  • Joined Chick-fil-a in 1999 as an Owner Operator of the Chick-fil-a in Chantilly VA.
  • While in Virginia, was very active with the Herndon Dulles Chamber of Commerce (Vice Chairman), Fellowship of Christian Athletes, Westfield High School Community Coalition, Partners with twenty three local schools, and sat on the Business & Industry Advisory Council for Dr Jack Dale Superintendent of Fairfax County Schools
  • Awards include – Best of Chantilly/Centreville by Herndon Dulles Chamber of Commerce, Outstanding Mid-size Business for 2003 by Herndon Dulles Chamber of Commerce, 2004 Chairman’s Award – Mount Vernon Lee Enterprises, Westfield High School Volunteer of the Year 2003
  • Married to wife Beth for fourteen years – one daughter Laura Jo who is in the Ninth grade at Woodrow Wilson High School.
  • Moved back to hometown of Beckley in July, 2006 to open the new Free Standing Chick-fil-A on Eisenhower Drive.
  • Member of the Beckley Raleigh County Chamber of Commerce, member of the Board of Directors, Chairman of the Ambassadors Committee and is working with the Beckley Make it Shine and Education Committees.  At the Beckley Raleigh County Convention Center he is on the Board of Directors as well as the Executive Committee  He is a member of Memorial Baptist Church where he is on the Church Council and is the Director of Men’s Ministries. Volunteers with the United Way of Southern West Virginia.  Beckley Area Foundation Grant Reader.  Active supporter and volunteer with Raleigh County Schools where he is a Mentor and leads a leadership class for fifth graders at Stratton Elementary School.
