What Can You Do?

  • TALK to your child and give your child the opportunity to talk. Conversation builds vocabulary and word knowledge.
  • Model the reading habit by reading books, magazines, or the newspaper.
  • Read to your child every day.
  • Read the words you see around you to your child as you shop, drive, eat breakfast...
  • Visit the Public Library with your child.
  • Buy books as gifts.
  • Volunteer to read at your child's school.
  • Attendance matters. Regular attendance helps students achieve, beginnig in Pre-K through grade 12.
