Ms. Pfleger’s class has been recognized for winning the PBIS Character Trait of the Month for February: Kindness! These students demonstrated what it truly means to be kind through their words, actions, and the way they supported one another each day. We extend our most heartfelt gratitude to the Federal Correctional Institution, Beckley for their incredibly generous donation of shoes and backpacks to Mabscott Elementary. This thoughtful contribution will make a lasting and meaningful impact, ensuring our students are equipped, confident, and ready to focus on learning and growth. Acts of generosity like yours do more than provide supplies — they inspire hope, foster encouragement, and remind us all of the power of community partnership. We are truly thankful for your support and for the difference you are helping make in the lives of our students and our school. #AllinforKids #CommunityPartnership

Miss Shepherd’s 3rd grade classroom recently completed an engaging CharacterStrong lesson led by Mrs. Pauley (CIS), centered on the meaningful impact of honesty and positivity. Throughout the month, students explored what it truly means to be honest and practiced using positively honest words and actions in their daily interactions. To bring this learning to life, students reflected on the power of their words and wrote heartfelt notes of encouragement to several teachers and staff throughout the school. This thoughtful activity not only brightened the day of many staff members, but also helped students deepen their understanding of empathy, integrity, and their important role in creating a supportive and uplifting school community. We are incredibly proud of their integrity, empathy, and the strong character they continue to demonstrate each day! #CaringCardinals #CharacterStrong

School Counseling Week is a timely reminder of the quiet, essential work happening in our schools every day.

This week, we recognize and thank our school counselors for the critical role they play in supporting students’ academic growth, social-emotional well-being, and future planning. Counselors are often the first to notice when a student is struggling—and the steady presence that helps them navigate challenges both inside and outside the classroom.

From individual student support and crisis response to academic advising and career guidance, your work matters more than most people realize—and it truly changes lives.

If you see a school counselor today, take a moment to thank them.

Thank you to our school counselors for your compassion, professionalism, and unwavering commitment to students. Our schools are stronger because of you.
