Congratulations to Mabscott Elementary’s Lace Legends!

Students who mastered tying their shoes got to decorate a shoe to display on our Lace Legends Bulletin Board. A big thank you to Mrs. Thomas and the SGA for all of your hard work making this happen!

A colorful school bulletin board titled “Lace Legends” at Mabscott Elementary, featuring dozens of student-decorated paper sneakers covered in glitter, pom-poms, feathers, and bright designs arranged around the border.
A group of children sit together on the floor of a gymnasium, arranged in two rows. The children in the front row sit cross‑legged, while those in the back row sit with legs extended. Behind them are red bleachers, a wall with posters, and the gym’s hardwood floor. The group is centered in the middle of the gym, posing closely together.
Two children stand at a black craft table in a gymnasium, working with glue and various craft supplies. The child on the left is wearing a green shirt with a light-colored sweater, and the child on the right is wearing a pink cardigan while holding craft materials. The table has scattered markers, glue bottles, and bits of glitter. A white brick wall and the gym floor are visible in the background.
An older child stands at a black craft table in a gymnasium, assisting a younger child with a craft project. The older child is holding a circular craft item, while the younger child watches. The table is scattered with craft materials, including glue bottles, markers, colorful feathers, and pom‑poms. The gym floor, white walls, and posters in the background are visible.
Two children stand beside a black craft table in a gymnasium. One child is wearing a light purple hoodie with a cartoon graphic on the front, and the other is wearing a pink jacket over a black shirt. On the table in front of them is a decorated paper craft covered in glitter, along with scattered glitter, markers, and a container of glitter. Red bleachers and shoes on the gym floor are visible in the background.
Four children are gathered around a black folding table in a gymnasium, working on a craft activity. The table is covered with glue bottles, scissors, markers, and small craft materials. Two children stand on the far side of the table while two lean over from the near side, all focused on their projects. Posters and signs are visible on the wall in the background.
Several children are gathered around a black rectangular craft table in a gymnasium. Some children are seated while others stand as they work with various craft supplies, including glue bottles, markers, and a jar filled with red material. One child is reaching into the jar, while others watch or work on their own projects. In the background, additional children stand near the wall, which is covered with posters and handwritten charts. The gym floor and white walls are visible throughout the scene.

We extend our most heartfelt gratitude to the Federal Correctional Institution, Beckley for their incredibly generous donation of shoes and backpacks to Mabscott Elementary. This thoughtful contribution will make a lasting and meaningful impact, ensuring our students are equipped, confident, and ready to focus on learning and growth. Acts of generosity like yours do more than provide supplies — they inspire hope, foster encouragement, and remind us all of the power of community partnership. We are truly thankful for your support and for the difference you are helping make in the lives of our students and our school. #AllinforKids #CommunityPartnership

Miss Shepherd’s 3rd grade classroom recently completed an engaging CharacterStrong lesson led by Mrs. Pauley (CIS), centered on the meaningful impact of honesty and positivity. Throughout the month, students explored what it truly means to be honest and practiced using positively honest words and actions in their daily interactions. To bring this learning to life, students reflected on the power of their words and wrote heartfelt notes of encouragement to several teachers and staff throughout the school. This thoughtful activity not only brightened the day of many staff members, but also helped students deepen their understanding of empathy, integrity, and their important role in creating a supportive and uplifting school community. We are incredibly proud of their integrity, empathy, and the strong character they continue to demonstrate each day! #CaringCardinals #CharacterStrong
