🔧🏫✨ Today is National Custodian & Maintenance Appreciation Day! ✨🏫🔧 Let’s take a moment to recognize and celebrate the incredible custodians and maintenance staff who work tirelessly to keep our school running smoothly. From early mornings to late nights, they ensure our buildings are safe, clean, and welcoming for students, staff, and visitors. They fix what’s broken, clean what’s messy, and do it all with a smile — often without us even realizing the hard work that goes on behind the scenes. 💪💙 If you see a custodian or maintenance worker today, be sure to give them a big “Thank You!” or leave a note of appreciation. It’s the perfect opportunity to show them how much we value their dedication and care. Thank you for making our school a better place to learn and grow! 🏫❤️ #CustodianAppreciation #MaintenanceHeroes #ThankYou

🎉🏆 Congratulations to Ama Ackon-Annan from Woodrow Wilson High School and Zadie Worley from Liberty High School for receiving the prestigious 2024-25 WVU Foundation Scholars award! 🎓🌟
The WVU Foundation Scholarship is the highest academic scholarship awarded by West Virginia University, covering college costs for four years of undergraduate studies, including tuition and fees, room and board, and a book stipend. Each scholar also receives a $4,500 stipend for study abroad, internships, or research, enabling them to expand their academic horizons and pursue their passions.
Ama Ackon-Annan, who plans to major in biomedical engineering, has always been inspired by her engineer mother and her experiences at STEM camps. She looks forward to joining intramural sports and DEI initiatives at WVU and hopes to study abroad in England or France. Her ultimate goal is to become a family physician, bridging her passion for biology and technology.
Zadie Worley, who will major in neuroscience, is motivated by a personal experience of watching a young family member suffer from epilepsy. She aims to become a pediatric neurologist in West Virginia, contributing to innovative healthcare solutions. Zadie plans to join the Medical and Dental Brigades and hopes to engage in groundbreaking research at the WVU Rockefeller Neuroscience Institute.
“Our Foundation Scholars represent the best of West Virginia and I look forward to officially welcoming them to the West Virginia University family this fall,” said President Gordon Gee. “During their time at WVU, Ama, Isaac, Liam, Clare, and Zadie will be challenged as they pursue their passions. I have confidence they will all find success along their chosen paths of purpose.”
Join us in celebrating these exceptional students as they embark on their academic journeys at WVU. Your dedication, hard work, and passion inspire us all. We are incredibly proud of you! 🌟💙💛 #WVUFoundationScholars #MountaineerPride #FutureLeaders #AcademicExcellence
